What is our problem with Purity?
When did we become ashamed of doing what is right and good?
Certainly this is nothing new; a man called Paul said the same thing a long time ago: Why do we do the things that we don’t want to do? Or the things that are not helpful? Or, why are we attracted to things that are bad for us?
We want a paradise to live in but we don’t want, or don’t seem able, to build it. We know the things that we crave: love, peace, trust, honesty, safety, happiness etc… but we persist in keeping them at bay.
We know where these things come from; it’s not difficult to figure out. If you sat us down in a classroom for an hour, like children, we would be able to come up with a pretty good list of the things that we need to do. In theory we know how to behave; so why is it so difficult?!
This world is a big relationship. A family of 7 billion people all having an effect on each other. Everyone wants a good life for themselves, their family and their friends. That is obvious but who manages it? And more importantly; who manages it without other people having to suffer to meet the cost? Something is causing us to blindly go round in circles. We can’t seem to do the work to create the paradise we all want, even though we can clearly identify the building blocks required to make it a reality. For some reason we spend most of our time doing the opposite; doing the exact things that we know will not bring our perfect future.
So, instead we dream of an easy solution, get rich, win the lottery, whatever; then we can get away from the mess while still contributing to it with our own actions; but at least we would be ok!
That said, I do believe that we know the things that are good and could identify them if we tried BUT I also believe that those things aren’t always in our conscious minds while we do the things we shouldn’t. I think that we have come to see the bad things as good or neutral in the stupor that we are in; pandering to whatever urge we have and whatever it is that we think will make the people around us be our friends or give us the attention we need.
So, rather than do what is correct or helpful, we do whatever will get us liked and help to stave off our insecurity. We do not do what is right if that would mean that others would reject us or laugh at us. That is the reality that we live in; we have become ashamed of doing what is right because we have developed a rampant insecurity and that is driving what we do. We must feed it otherwise we feel bad. That is where our shame lives and that is a key source of our inability to correct our path.
Answer: Do what is right no matter what.
Perhaps now we can see that we are being driven by an invisible and very powerful world that is all around us. In that world lives our shame and the things that cause it. Also residing there are all the feelings we share and the actions that we have carried out that created them; the triggers for our embarrassment and so many other negative emotions. That invisible world is full of all our mess and the insecurity that we have developed is allowing it to perpetuate itself. We have to keep feeding it; what a very vicious circle. The more negative actions we throw into the mix the more negative results we bring on ourselves; we reap the things that we sow, it is that simple.
Answer: Always do what is right no matter what.
What is the crux of this?
We have become obsessed with doing what we want and obsessed with fitting in but this world that we are desperately trying to fit into has been totally polluted by our own actions. We have built a world and a network of relationships with each other that are now driving and pushing us to do what is wrong, constantly. We have created a beast that we are all part of and that beast sucks in everyone. And anyone trying to resist getting sucked in, we look at as weird; they would be rejected; the insecurity rules.
We have become ashamed of good. We have grown averse to purity yet purity is the one thing that we need to create our perfect world – the world that we all hold in our hearts and see only in our dreams. We must snap out of this trance.
You have to ask yourself: What is it that has caused us to create such a polluted world? What could be causing us to do wrong in the face of our knowledge of what is correct? Who is this invisible enemy and how do we defeat him?
Answer: Persist in doing what is right no matter whether you want to or not because you know that the feelings that are trying to stop you are false and must be rejected. Purity has spoken.
To take back to world from the beast that we have created and the enemy that is pushing us, we must fall in love with Purity. That is the only way. Purity is King; that is where Perfection comes from.
If you are unsure about any action then just apply this rule: Only do something if you would be happy for someone else to do it to you.
And… if you want to know how to be able to apply that rule in the face of the world that provokes our insecurity and our invisible enemy that does whatever it is that he does, then you need to get in touch with the ONE Person who laid it down in the first place. The only ONE who has even spoken the complete Truth.
Jesus Christ.
