Do We Understand Life?

question-mark-man

We have gone from people walking around naked to a world laced with culture and tradition

We have so many fashions, rites, festivals and delicacies; what culture
We are a people of intelligence, wisdom and enlightenment; we are civilised
We have amazing technology, medicine and scientific discovery; how advanced we are

But what actually means anything; what is important?

What about life; things that give life and things that save life; rather than the things which simply make this place a bit more ‘interesting’

What am I saying?

THIS:

There is so much that we could do that would save so many lives

But we don’t manage to do it – and people keeping on suffering and dying

There are so many things that we don’t need to do, that don’t really help anyone at a fundamental level of life and death

But that is what most of us spend our lives doing

It seems like we need to find some help; Who Is Worthy

Perfection Rejection

Rejected

The only reason that we struggle
With giving ourselves completely
To our perfect God
Is because of our imperfections

Perfection wants to embrace us
And totally envelope us
But we hold on to our impurities
For dear life
But that ‘life’
Is nothing more than death itself
What a twisted world

Please, we must let go
We must reject the nonsense
That we all seem to love so much
Move away from the dark side
And change this place for good
Will you accept Him

Hope pt2

tunnel_light

Listen friend, that Hope we mentioned when you questioned me
That place you ventured to and walked a bit before things tensioned
It’s still there, still here, still given by God and still shared
By so many who listened and doubted but stilled dared
To go there, to trust Him, even when life seemed bare

Please, let me give you some truth to lift your heart
That hope, that life you want; it’s there, set apart – for you
So take it, you’re smart – use your mind, choose God; get a head start – This is
Not some abstract art but real life, ready for you to play your part

It’s never gonna be easy; not every move; that’s a cliché but it’s true
How could it be simple to change the likes of me and you
Into different people; the same but new; altered from the past we knew
We’re so dark; this break-through into light is hard but essential too

Believe me: that hope is always there; always present and only scarce
Because we find it hard to share control and bear our souls
To God, Who only wants to end this farce and save us while we dig this hole
You just have to let go; easier said than done, right – or not; just enrol

It’s true: many people will have a share in different parts of your life – they’re broken too
Don’t let that kill you; we have to learn to deal with the wear and tear that we all cause
It’s undue but we all do it; forgive and forget that stuff; even when the pain accrues
This may sound unfair but do your best to move on; that’s how we make it through

This is key: remember you can’t always control the way you feel
So take care, while driving this new life; keep your hands on the wheel
Hold on; don’t despair at your emotions – they come and go with every meal
Just keep trusting and feeding your hope with what is Real – you know the deal

Before I depart, let’s answer that question: is there hope you can touch and see
Yes: It’s written on the lives of hundreds of millions of people like me
And you – endless crowds of transformed men and women, who shout
Because, somehow, they struggled through and fought their doubt

Some-way God got through to them and changed their drought
Into a new life with him; if you don’t believe me ask them, they’re everywhere; just don’t flout
This eternal future that could be yours; I promise you this, don’t bail out
If you continue; if you go all-out; if you seek Him you WILL find out

Fessing Up

Confessing

This is one of the hardest things to do but it yields amazing, purifying, sin shattering, peace bringing results.

Those things that are weighing you down. The things that make you think that your situation is worse than everyone else’s; God knows and He wants you to get them off your chest. He also insists that we help each other through this; we are all in the same boat, remember.

James said this:

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”
James5:16 (NIV)

  • We all have issues. We need to talk to, forgive, help and pray for each other.

And John said this:

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
1John1:9 (NIV)

  • God is not the issue, it’s us. He has forgiven us; Let’s get it off our chests – then the purification process will be able to take real effect.

Lets just go through a couple more aspects of this:

  • We are all guilty. We must understand that about each other. We must not judge one another or gossip or laugh at each others issues. We all need help but we have a habit of looking down on others and over-reacting to their situation just so that we can feel better about ourselves. Let’s make sure that we don’t act inappropriately towards each others failings; you know what I mean:

Telling+a+secret

  • We can’t except sin but we are all living with it. We seem to have created an environment where we are scared of each other and live in fear of what everyone thinks about us. This is a terrible place to be; all fearing what everyone else will say; but who has the right to say anything – only Jesus and He says ‘FORGIVE’.
  • Let’s do away with all the rubbish. We must have a relationship where we can come together, talk about our problems and the sin that we want to leave behind. Let’s create a place where we are not afraid of each other and let’s get the devil out in the open and put an end to him – with simple Love. Let’s get that beast off our chests. That is the most important point here: it is in this kind of behviour that we give a home to the enemy and allow him to keep on destroying us.
  • So what do we do about it? Let’s pray together and for each other; it’s what we been told to do and it works.

Avoiding God

Why do we hide from Him
In hours spent
Not even thinking
About what we are doing

Why do we avoid Him
By hiding in Facebook
Or losing ourselves in Twitter
We love to be immersed in nonsense

Why do we stand Him up
To spend time with Hollywood
Giving our hours to those
Who love to do the things He hates

Why do we listen
To the voices of people
Singing about all kinds of sin
When there’s a Perfect voice that wants to talk

Why do we choose to be busy
With things that can wait
When we could spend time
With the Creator of the Universe

Why do we prefer anything
To the silent thought
Which is an amazing place
Where He loves to meet us

Why don’t we take our fear and doubt
Our worries about what other people think
Put them in a big old bag
And chuck them in the bin

Why don’t you go and spend some time with God
And, after that, you can do the other stuff
He doesn’t want to take your life
He just wants to be in it
And help you to move in the right direction

Becoming Perfect

Question Signs

On the journey that we are on, being transformed back into the image of God, there is another aspect that we can mention: In the first place, mankind ran away from God and away from relationship with Him; away from good behaviour and away from stable life. Now we are in a place where no one really trusts anyone and it can be pretty hard to know what to do; even when you are in a relationship with the Maker of the universe.

We were free, in the beginning, to leave God and we are free now to return to Him. Freewill was given to us in the start and we still have it now; we can do whatever we want!

That is an amazing and rather serious aspect to this world. It is ours to manage, ours to explore, ours to repair and ours to cover with loving, honest relationships.

We give our lives to God and He is always with us, will always help and will never let us go. We are also still free to seek things out, get things wrong, to cause havoc if we are not careful and to return towards the perfection that we talked about yesterday.

This world requires a lot of mending and that mending is going on inside our hearts and minds; that is the only place that counts. That mending needs us to harness the immense powers of compassion, empathy, understanding, patience, forgiveness etc…

So, on this return journey how do we tell good from bad. How do we know the way to go on this road to perfection.

Well, John said this:

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”
1John4:16 (NIV)

  • God is Love – and we are to become like Him.

And Paul said this:

“If I…… do not have love, I gain nothing.

  • Love is patient
  • Love is kind
  • It does not envy
  • It does not boast
  • It is not proud
  • It does not dsihonour others
  • It is not self-seeking
  • It is not easily angered
  • It keeps no records of wrongs
  • It does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth
  • It always protects
  • Always trusts
  • Always hopes
  • Always perseveres
  • Love never fails”

1Cor13:3-8 (NIV)

  • Those are the characteristics of God’s personality.

We need to seek out those attributes with our hearts and minds and learn to love them. We should do our best to exhibit them whether or not we feel like it at the time.

Also, we must never forget that God is always here and will always help us; he will never let us down and never let us go.

This point is a very important: He has not made us robots. He will help us on our transformation and will make sure that we get there no matter what but He has not made us robots. That is a massive gift and also so important. We are not robots; so let us take hold of our freewill, let God help us to harness it and then drive it in the right direction. No matter what.

We have a world to rebuild; and we have God on our side.

What’s stopping us.

Be Perfect

Jesus said:

“Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
Mat 5:48 (NIV)

What does that mean? Doesn’t every Christian always say “we can never be perfect – not yet anyway”

So, how can flawed people ‘be perfect’ now?

HomerPerfectGame

Here are a couple of thoughts:

1. God is perfect in nature. i.e. He has no wrong in Him and no reason to do anything wrong. Nothing to gain or lose, nothing to fear and nothing to hide. So, that’s great for Him, but luckily for us He is our Father and does not want to leave is in this mess. He has promised to fill us with some of His Perfect Spirit which, when received, will mesh with our spirit, talk to us and help us to move in the right direction. If you haven’t done that yet; got that Spirit, then just ask, it’s free.

Giving your life to Jesus and receiving that Spirit is, in itself, a perfect thing to do and that leads on to the other point.

2. Our life is not instantaneous, it is made up of countless thoughts, acts, interactions etc… Our minds and hearts may not be in a perfect and pure condition that produces nothing but flawless behaviour but we can certainly get on with doing the things that we continue to discover we should be doing – while we are walking through this life.

Just do one perfect thing at a time; here are some suggestions:

– Spend 15 mins praying
– Spend 15 mins reading the bible
– Do some work
– Get some rest
– Give you wife or husband a kiss
– Find a wife or husband
– Wash someone’s car
– Buy someone a sandwich
– Wash your own car and buy yourself a sandwich

You get the point; the list is endless. So many things in life are perfect, it’s the other things that we must avoid.

Conclusion:

Get Jesus and live your life doing one perfect thing at a time.

Not a Lie

Jesus is not a lie, friend.

If you knew Him then you would know; READ THIS.

Follow Jesus

Why should we follow Jesus?

Who is He that I should worry about Him?!

Just read this for a start; unless you are scared!

Scar Trek – Into Darkness

Tell me about this trek that we are on
Where we have caused so much damage
And become so scarred
Travelling through time; whatever time is
Although it’s surely just the fact that we continue to exist
And that we are able to move
Which is itself only a neutral aspect of life
But how is it that we can move in good and also bad directions
That must be another dimension outside of time
Time doesn’t tell you what is wrong
It is only part of the arena
In which good and bad are played out

They say that with your life
You ‘write a story’ or ‘paint a picture’
We are certainly painting a picture
But time is not the canvass or the paint or the artist
It is merely the fact that we are able to move the brush
There is another question, a much more important one:
What drives the colours we chose and the strokes we make
That is the deepest of questions
Answer this; can you paint black on black or white on white

There was a point in time when everything was good
Before any human decision had been made
But as soon as we walked, we erred
And erring has become our nature
Or at least our weapon of choice
In the fight for our own lives;
If we have to paint over somebody else face
To get what we want – we do – because we can

So tell me; just what has happened
Surely, nature does what she does
And animals are animals;
Even an infinite number of monkeys
Couldn’t write Shakespeare
But we can; we have
And look what else we have done
Amazing, unbelievable things
And amazingly unbelievably terrible things

On our jounrney through time
We have covered the face of this rock
With immense feats of engineering
Beautiful art and ever advancing technology
And we have also covered it in premature blood
We have lusted and envied and been infinitely greedy
And then let loose all the resulting actions
Like it or not and for all the good we have done
We have journeyed into darkness
And that is where we are – in need of LIGHT

True Saviour

So, let us discuss all of these crazy feelings
They’re causing us problems and pain to the ceiling
We have to stop doing things that are wrong
That is what Jesus has said all along!

Lust is a problem destroying so many
Fixation on bodies, to countless, is deadly
Prostitution and slavery are part of this song
That is what Jesus has said all along!

Greed is so terrible who could imagine
We’re feeding a monster that’s eating our children
Starvation and murder; there’s no word too strong
That is what Jesus has said all along!

Money has got us all tied up together
So many people doing things that don’t matter
We should be helping each other along
That is what Jesus has said all along!

Our pride and our vanity they must be broken
Look at our mess; consequences have spoken
We’re trapped by our feelings; it’s been far too long
That is what Jesus has said all along!

How clearly we see that we need a True Saviour
We’re killing ourselves with this crazy behaviour
If only we knew where we really belonged
That is what Jesus has said all along!

This our world; we’ve caused all the problems
Everywhere; we can see
So let us remember
Jesus is not fallen
And Him we can follow and He’ll set us Free

Favourite Things

Cutting corners and making life easy
Making our music and movies so sleazy
Taking risks with our lives with a grin
These are a few of our favourite things!

Cursing and swearing and telling rude stories
Being selfish and hogging the glory
Chasing riches and the problems it brings
These are a few of our favourite things!

Smoking and drinking; ruining lungs & livers
Doing our hair and staring in our mirrors
Doing what we want; forgetting everything
These are a few of our favourite things!

Hardcore pornos and strip clubs and ‘lad’s’ books
Half-naked women every-where you look
Lots of sex attached with no strings
These are a few of our favourite things!

Shopping on credit and filling our houses
With so many shoes and handbags and nice trousers
Buying so much that it should make us cringe
These are a few of our favorite things!

Spending our time on pursuits that don’t matter
Eating and drinking and just getting fatter
Watching the poor die while counting our bling
These are few of our favourite things!

Selling our children products that destroy them
Letting them free to go crazy and what then?
Breaking the laws; no care for anything
These are a few of our favourite things!

When the world bites, when my life stings
When I’m feeling black
I simply remember
That Jesus is King
And I pick myself up because He’s coming back

Darkness, Darkness, Everywhere

Darkness, darkness, everywhere
In shadow and in light
Tell me friend, who can be spared
Without the gift of sight

How will we see the Way to flee
Before we are consumed
Now we’re settled with our eyes
Adapted to the gloom

The men have gone and sold their minds
To every evil vice
Instead of getting life aligned
They’d rather roll the dice

The women pander to the men
Insecurity must be stilled
Get the attention that is craved
So that they feel fulfilled

The young are given space to lose
Their lives before they start
The adults seeking wealth
Have sold the future race’s heart

Darkness, darkness, welcomed in
By all who crave this world
Why do we love to do such things
That clearly leave us doomed

Before Darkness

Long ago
Before this age of darkness
There was a perfect place
Perhaps only in the mind of God
Or perhaps a different world
Not physical; no birth or death there
A world of pure energy; the home of the Father of Life
Only He knows; but there was Life before this brokenness
And He Was and Is that Life; everlasting and pure

There came a point when a decision was made by Him
New life was created and this life was given it’s own freedom
Responsibility was shared among these people
Choice was given and decisions were made
Many motives were circulating in their new world
Their life had many aspects and their minds became conflicted
And, so it came that the first lie was born
That was a terrible day in the history of existence
In truth, this is a story too awful to be heard
But it must be told so that the lie can eventually be undone

So we tell the story; written in so many shades of doubt and fear
It contains every word ever spoken; every lie and every honest thought
It is not a hopeless tale; but it is a journey through the darkest of places
And a revelation of the truth about every last one of this frantic race

That first lie spread so fast and so far
That every life has been touched and every mind confused
One lie that triggered a chain reaction that destroyed an entire civilisation
And here we are, thousands of years and billions of lives later
Looking back in disbelief at the havoc unleashed by simple people
People just trying to live a life; but the darkness had become too thick
The invisible web of thoughts, emotions and feelings, once contaminated
Had evolved into an unstoppable beast; apart from one thing
You cannot confuse God
